Karori Cricket Club Academy

The Karori Cricket Club Board is excited to introduce the new Karori Cricket Academy!

Specifically for cricketers playing in Years 5 to 8, the Academy will be delivered by qualified coaches for 15 sessions from 1 December 2023 to 26 March 2024.  

The aim is to give players the skills they need to ensure every time they practice and play they are improving the skills that will see them shine in the future. 

Delivered at Karori Park on Friday afternoons, the Academy is intended as a multi-year investment to put in place a pathway for players into our Youth and then Senior sections of the Club.

Attendance at the Academy (group sessions) is free for Karori Registered players. Other players are welcome but will be charged a fee. Places are limited. 

Purpose Statement: Encourage, empower and nurture, giving our future stars the chance to shine.

Approach: Experienced coaches and current players working with small groups and teams to improve technical skills, game knowledge and awareness and the enjoyment of cricket. Our Academy coaches are made up of NZC qualified coaches, ex first class players and current Karori Premier players. We will also have guest coaches for specific skills sessions, including fielding, batting and bowling. If your child enjoys the Academy experience then they are able to request 1:1 coaching with Academy coaches but this will be charged per session.

Places are limited to ensure those who are able to attend get the individual technical input they need to improve and practice and play properly. 

Timing: From 1 December 2023, Academy sessions will be delivered every Friday 5-7pm until 22 December 2023, and resume from 12 January 2024 until 29 March. The Karori Park nets and field will be utilised to deliver this training, which means if the weather is wet then sessions may not go ahead.

Age Group: Players will be allocated into suitable small groups, to train with players of a similar age and stage.

Cost: The Karori Cricket Club will fund all aspects of the Academy in the 23/24 season for players registered at the Club. There will be a charge of $250 for players not registered with KCC.
